RESEARCH AND/OR CREATIVE ACTIVITY
I am a visual artist, working predominately in painting, drawing, and printmaking. The work has been and continues to be promoted through one woman and group exhibitions at museums, galleries, culture centers and educational programs.
RESEARCH GRANTS/AWARDS
- Artist-in-Residence, University of Texas at the Permian Basin, Odessa, TX. March 16-19, 2020.
- National Science Foundation grant, collaborative federal grant with Atmospheric Science Professor, Dr. Eric Bruning. ($700,000 granted, $70,000 to be allocated for the art project.) 2014-2017.
- Paul Hannah Award for 2016, award is associated with Texas Association Schools of Art, annual state conference was held in Alpine, TX. ($1000 award for speaker of conference.)
- Artist-in-Residence, Coronado Studio, Austin, TX, 2008. This is part of an annual series of visiting artist selected from TX. I produced an 11 color silk-screen print entitled “Frutas de me vida”.

- “El Arte de Tina Fuentes,” Texas Association Schools of Art (TASA), state convention held in McAllen, TX. (Preview of my film and slide lecture presentation was given by me.) April 15, 2000.
- I have assisted KTXT-TV in the production of El Arte de Tina Fuentes. A documentary film on my artwork. The National Education Television Association (NETA) has accepted the airing of this documentary. This program was available for airing by other PBS stations across the country on March 19, 2000, 6:30 EST
- Lubbock Arts Alliance Grants have been awarded for “Dia de los Muertos” celebration. $6,000-$7,000 grants have been awarded in August, 1999, 2000,2001, 2002,2003, 2004. Grants were written for a four site events. The events have been held at the Buddy Holly Center, Lubbock Arts Alliance Gallery. International Culture Center and Texas Tech School of Art. Serving as chair of the committee I assisted in organizing the celebration and writing the grants. “Dia de los Muertos” is an event held to commemorate a traditional Mexican celebration on November 2.
- Artist-in-Residence, Coronado Studio, Austin, TX, 1998. This is part of an annual series of visiting artist selected from TX. I produced an 8-color silk-screen print entitled “Manita”.
- Texas Tech Faculty Developmental Leave. Leave was awarded for Spring, 1998.
- Texas Tech Fund 2005 Proposal $2,005 grant. (Grant was awarded for Art Student Competition 1997)
- Texas Committee for The Humanities $3,500 grant, Texas Commission for the Arts $5,000 grant, Lubbock Arts Council $4,000 grant. Grants were awarded in association with the Las Mujeres Hablan Symposium, Lubbock, TX, October, 28-29, 1993. I was co-chair of the two-day event. The symposium was held at the Lubbock Fine Arts Center and at the University Center at Texas Tech University. The event was to bring together a group of six Latina women from across the country and to address issues on gender, education and professional development from the perspective of two writers, two musicians and two visual artist.
